Last week in art class, we learnt about how to make color gradation using color pencils. We were told to implement our learning in a project. We first thought about a word that we liked or made us feel happy. We then would write that word in bubble letters, and make gradients of different colors inside the words. Along with this, we also had to make a background, and an image of something that comes to mind when you think of that word.
I chose the word “shiny”. I chose this because when I think of that word, it makes me think of medals and trophies, both being invaluable and hard to earn. Since metallic gold and silver colors were available in the color pencil box, I decided to use them in this exercise. I also used black and brown to make a light-dark gradation. I made a diamond, as it is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the word shiny. I made the diamond have different colors, as I wanted to show how a real diamond looks like when a light is reflected through it. I used black paper instead of white paper to give the gold and silver a bolder look.
I enjoyed the project, and I have learnt many important things to use in future works – thinking through ideas, planning carefully, and to effectively/efficiently make use of my time. It was a lot of fun, and I hope the next project comes out even better. Please write your thoughts or comments.
So, what do you think ?
