A days excursion to Camp Wing…

0

Yesterday, the whole sixth grade embarked on a journey to Camp Wing. It was my last day in 6th grade and hence it was a great way to end the school year.

When we reached Camp Wing in the morning, we were told about the rules. The most important rule was the “Rule of Three”. This rule stated that wherever an individual goes, even if it’s the bathroom, they must be accompanied by one or more individual(s). Many were opposed to this because it limited privacy :-).

Another concept we were introduced to was the “Ozi Code”. What would happen is, the guides would say, “Ozi,Ozi,Ozi!” and then we would, in return, say “Oy,Oy,Oy!”. Upon hearing this, the guides would reply back, “Oy,Oy,Oy!”. Finally, we would answer back with “Ozi,Ozi,Ozi!”. This is used to get everyone settled down.

Later, like baby birds developing wings, we split up into our groups. Each group had it’s own schedule, and the activities we took part in were based on that. Our group engaged in activities such as canoeing, swimming/water games and basketball games.

One of the best parts of the day was lunch. The lunch was phenomenal, and was fit for a king. It had pizza, salad, chips and lemonade. Hmmm… worth every dollar. For dessert, there were chocolate and ice cream bars, and popsicles. It was a scrumptious lunch and best – it was with my friends and teachers.

Afterwards, we got some extra time to do what ever we wanted. My heart told me that I should play soccer, but I also played a little basketball with my friend Adam. To finish off my sixth grade year, I got a hat-trick (3 goals) in soccer, and my team won 5-3. I was told that this trip would prepare us for our scheduled three-day trip in seventh grade. I am so longing for it. Have a great summer!
