    Claude Monet: Sketch Vs Picture

This was a sketch which I decided to do for my project on Impressionism for the Elementary Laboratory Center (ELC) Program. I decided to do Claude Monet, because he is one of the most well-known Impressionists. When doing this sketch, I learnt a few things about the face sketch that you need to keep in mind. I have listed them below:

  • The eyes must always be in line with the ears
  • The face of the person must always be curved, not straight
  • When making the mouth, it should be that the upper lip is not far away from the nostrils, or bottom of the nose
  • The nose should not be long, and it should be close to the eyes

The shading on one side of the face that you see in the picture was done with my thumb. What I did was I rubbed the dark part of the beard and hat with my thumb on the face, and the shade just appeared like magic 🙂 The rest of it was just me drawing what I saw in the picture. Hope you enjoy seeing the same.
