This is my own creation which I call the “Nanini” meaning Nandan’s Panini. Although this sandwich originated in Italy, when I made it, I chose my own ingredients – some Indian spices and Indian pav-bhaji bread, to give it a little twist. Read the ingredients and the direction to make this simple yet delicious mouth watering dish. Hope you get to experience the awesome taste of this sandwich.
Ingredients:
Any Cheese slice of your choice (I used American)
Indian Pav Bhaji bread. You can also use other non-sliced breads.
Spinach, Tomato Slices;
Seasoning: Garlic Powder, Pepper, Italian seasoning, Chat Masala (an Indian spice mix), salt (to taste), sauce (optionally you can use Indian hot and sweet tomato sauce)
Direction:
- Cut the bread into two slices.
- Put the cheese in between.
- Remove the stems of the spinach, and place it on top of the cheese.
- Cut one slice of tomato and place it on top of the spinach.
- To make the special seasoning, in a small bowl, mix pepper powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and chat masala.
- Rub the seasoning on top of the tomato slice and on the other slice of bread as well.
- You may also add salt and a sauce if you desire. I did not add it, as I did not want too many flavors in the Nanini.
- Either you microwave till the cheese melts OR put it in the Panini press or Sandwich grill to just make it a little warm.
- Serve it hot along with a tea or coffee.
- Enjoy your Nanini!!!
