Clay Mask

0

Last week, at Point Painters, an after school program in our school, I finished making a clay mask. It looked really cool! See the picture… And, it even fit in my face!

To make it, I first had to roll out a piece of clay so it was thin, and place it in the mold of my choice. After I did that, I had to put my piece of clay on the mold, and make lots of thin clay “snakes”, as my art teacher called them. With these, I could twist and turn them and make the face of the mask. After I placed the clay pieces on the mask, I took a wet sponge and rubbed the mask and connected everything good so when it cooked in the kiln, it wouldn’t have cracks. As soon as that was over, I painted it with special colors. After that, it cooked in the kiln, which took 3 days! But, after it was finished, the colors looked 10 times more bright than before. It was definitely worth the wait.
